AutoTrophy — Revisited
2011AutoTrophyRemastering
An old collaboration, revisited for the pleasure of working with it again. AutoTrophy began in 2011 with Sebastian Onufszak and Benjamin Stephan. In 2026, I returned to the film as a personal exercise and a project close to my heart: remastering and a new sound interpretation give the existing imagery another life.
My contribution to this 2026 version: remastering of the original film.
Taking the machine apart
Taking the vehicle apart makes automotive design readable beyond its silhouette. Suspended wheels, panels and mechanical elements create a spatial composition in which relationships between parts matter as much as individual surfaces. Moving between the whole arrangement and a close detail gives familiar machinery a different kind of attention.
That tension between engineering and composition is what made the original worth returning to. Restrained colour and concentrated highlights give separated components a shared atmosphere, while shadow leaves room to read their shape. The remastering revisits that existing visual idea.

A new interpretation of an existing film
The current version keeps the 2011 collaboration at its centre. Remastering revisits the available image, while the new soundtrack offers another interpretation of the original. It is a personal return to an earlier piece, presented here alongside the supplied archive version so that both moments remain visible.
